Rock Creek Trail, Little Lakes Valley, Eastern Sierra
If you had only one day to hike in Eastern Sierra, and wanted to get a glimpse what Eastern Sierra is really about, there are two hikes I would recommend: Rock Creek Trail in Little Lakes Valley and 20 Lakes Basin, near Saddlebag Lake.
Rock Creek trailhead starts at about 10,000′, at the end of Rock Creek Road (just off of Tom’s Place), and goes through a series of lakes – Mack, Marsh, Heart, Long, Chickenfoot, and Gem – all within the first few miles.
You can head over to Gem Lake and call it a day, or hike a bit further – over Morgan Pass to Upper and Lower Morgan Lakes, which will set you up with ~4,5 miles (one way) hiking distance.
This is one of the most beautiful, and moderate (~1000 ft gain/loss)  hikes I have done in the eastern sierra.
